I am just back from San Miguel. I LOVE Mexico. I am especially drawn to areas where there is beautiful colonial Spanish architecture. I went for 5 days and stayed with my friend Hope. Coincidentally, the trip was scheduled on the same day as the release of my new book. I can not wait to hear comments. I think the book is beautiful and informative. Although, I have seen proof's or the book, I am waiting for my hard copies to arrive today.
When I take a trip such as this, I really just roam and soak in the culture, architecture and atmosphere. I really do not have a plan but find many experiences come to me. Not big ones that shake me up and pull me into my physical body but small, inspiring tiny experiences that help form and contribute experiences and layers to my work.

congratulations and kudos to you susan, your book arrived today and is so beyond visual eyecandy (although it is that and more). it's well written, informative and inspiring and each page, as well as each piece, shows that it was nothing less than a labor of love. you are definitely "todays voice" in jewelry and we're very proud of you and your accomplishments.
you rock the house girl!!!

and if this message posts twice, then consider it a double compliment.
I have to simply say ditto to Linda and Opie's post...I received my copy today and took the whole day off to read it and look at the gorgeous works inside...what a treat after a busy season of work.
I am very much looking forward to seeing you again in May at Art & Soul...

Hello: I am signed up for your artfest rings and relics ... I am just checking on FLAT SHEET METAL.
Can you expand on that? is it the metal sheets you would find at the hobby store? What weight?
What transparent material did you use on that wonderful ring with the writing on your recent blog entry?
Order your book today, cant wait to receive it. Also, your email contact link on your online shop is not working.
Thank you
Kim
Hi Susan,
I am very interested in taking one or two of your classes next Fall at Art and Soul in Portland. Do you think, as a newbie jewelry maker wannabe, I would be able to make these wonderful items? I have no experience in metal at all. I've just done a little wire wrapping and chaining.
Thanks,
Ilene Harris

YES ! San Miguel is wonderful ! I was there last year (or has it been almost two years already ?)
Definitely a place to roam and soak up music, architecture and culture. Looking forward to going back ...
The doors ! the doors ! the magic portals that lead to these little worlds you never suspected.
oh and I am wondering if you ran into the shop with all of the old relics in it. Religious articles and dolls in the windows. SO amazing.
Missed you at Art & Soul. Hope all is well.
Will have to check that book out !
xo-S.
