A trip I took over the summer to Warren Dunes national forest in Michigan reminded me of what I try to seek out in other cultures. I was pleasantly surprised to find an inspiring example of body adornment used in a non traditional manner. It felt like a pilgrimage or spiritual quest inspired by a union of spirits. People of all ages forged through waist deep water all working together to get there in a warm peaceful state of mind. People of all ages happily lathered themselves in clay and shaped interesting hair styles and body pattens.
